Nail Polish Free April

This is the time to detox your body and mind we are more health conscious and self-aware this time of the year, but we tend to forget that our nails need a break too. Although nail polish looks nice, your nails need to breathe. Constant use of polish, even nontoxic polish, can weaken the nail. Take the plunge! After wearing nail polish for a week or so, remove the nail polish with an acetone-free polish remover and then let your nails be polish-free for as long as you can. Here are other tips we recommend you do to your nails this month. Change How You File Your Nails One Direction – it’s not just the name of a boy band! Filing your nails in a back-and-forth motion like a saw can actually weaken your nails. File in one direction only, and go easy on the sides of the nails since filing too much there can weaken the nail and cause painful diagonal growth. Keep Your Nails On the Shorter Side Long nails are more likely to break and get caught on things, while shorter nails are less likely to be chipped, cracked, or split. If your nails are weak and you’re looking to strengthen your nails you should stay short for a little longer until they are strong enough to grow. Use Oil On Your Nails After removing polish, or if you think you’re not hydrated enough, use a nourishing nail treatment. To moisturize your nails use Joviality, Strong n’ Long Nail Oil or condition your cuticles Osvaldo’s, Nail and Cuticle Care You can do this treatment every night, using a cotton bud. An additional product that nurtures your nails naturally is the Imtenan, Sweet Almond Oil. Buffers Are Your Best Friend If you have a hard time going bare, buff your nails and add a glossy polish-free shine, it polishes without the need to add color! Sakaré, Nail Buffer is a beneficial tool that works wonders along with your nail file.
