Pre-Wedding Glam Tips

This is the master checklist to ensure you are a bride who is beauty-ready for the big day! The trick is to not overload yourself with too many tasks. Know when to tackle different projects; like getting your hair and skin to look the way you want it to. That’s why we’ve created this easy-to-follow schedule for your bridal beauty look. Our guide will ensure you look every bit the blushing and glowing bride when the big day arrives. 8 Months Before Exfoliate: Start a weekly at home exfoliation by using natural body scrubs to prep your skin. Better yet, why not take your girlfriends out for a relaxing spa day, and get an exfoliating Moroccan Bath. If you’re opting for an at-home option, we recommend using the Earthowls, Milk & Honey Body Scrub or try treating yourself to a Moroccan Bath a month before the wedding. Start dry brushing, brushing yields major skin benefits, including exfoliation and increased blood circulation (ex. a healthy glow). Use the Soul & More, Short Dry Body Brush for an overall wellness standpoint, it also revs up the flow of lymph, the all-important fluid that whisks toxins out of our systems. Start with three dry-brushing sessions per week, building up to daily, and be sure to slather on some type of moisturizer afterward. Our current go-to body moisturizer is the Kinetics, Amber & Vanilla Hand & Body Lotion. Gym Routine: Not only will daily workouts keep stress in check but you will feel and look your best for the big day. Along with your choice of yoga, cardio or pilates, strength training is a must add to your bridal workout routine for toned arms, especially if your dress is strapless. Moreover, building lean muscle mass will also boost your metabolism, help you burn more calories (and body fat), and tone your whole body. You don’t need to lift heavy weights to get the benefit; body-weight and light-weight exercises will do the trick, so grab that set of dumbbells and start your bridal bootcamp! Nutritionist: Get your diet checked, measure your health and if you need to, start juicing or change your meal pattern. Food is for energy, which we need mostly during the day. Eat a little more at breakfast and lunch and a little less at dinner; you will find that your appetite adjusts. If you’re in need of assistance, you can contact your trusted nutritionist to help you stay on track as the countdown to the big day begins. You will find that your dietary lifestyle changes will show in the health of your skin, hair and nails as it all starts with nutrition from within. 6 Months Before Dermatologist: Know what’s best for your skin and get to know the benefits of the products you’re using in your routine. A dermatologist can help identify your skin’s needs and point you in the right direction in terms of products. They can also recommend treatments to boost your skin’s radiance and heal a variety of skin problems. After visiting your dermatologist you may find yourself adding or removing products based on their effectiveness. Remember, results take a month to become noticeable, so give it time. Hair Color: While the lead-up to the wedding isn’t the time to be thinking drastic change, it’s a great excuse to get your color in check- like correcting color that has gradually worked its way into brassy territory. You will need at least a few appointments to get a color overhaul right, so we recommend you start the journey six months out from the wedding day. Be sure to communicate with your hair stylist if you will have your hair up or down on the wedding day, as highlights may very from framing your face by color contouring around the hairline which can brighten your face and give you that bridal glow. Re-do roots 10 days before your wedding, if needed. 3 Months Before Facial: To get that sought after pre-wedding glow, you must first have a skin clearing product to avoid any breakouts from stress. One of our favorite acne-zapping products are the Body Bloom, Tea Tree Serum For Acne, and their Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner. Keep these products on hand to control acne. To upkeep your glowing skincare routine, it’s recommended to do a face mask once a week like the all-natural Trace Cosmetics, Natural Bo-Tox to detox your skin. 4 Weeks Before Haircare: Start with a trim to get rid of split ends, for instant healthy looking hair. Two weeks before the big day start deep conditioning your hair at home with a hair mask, like the fan-favorite Somavie, Argan Oil Hair Mask. This will help to rejuvenate your hair and give a glossy finish to stressed out strands. Hands & Nails: Start nail strengthening treatments using cuticle oils/creams like the Joviality, Stron’N’Long Nail Oil or by just going for the main ingredient in any cuticle conditioner, Sweet Almond Oil. The Hathor, Sweet Almond Oil is a great choice. For manicures and pedicures, it’s best to do them the night before your wedding so you have them fresh for your big day. Bridal colors are utterly pretty, which is why we recommend soft tones and neutrals like the Kinetics, Dust Temple which you can always bring with you on your honeymoon to retouch. 2 Weeks Before Eyebrows: Thread, wax or shape eyebrows 2 weeks in advance and tweeze any stray hairs the day before. You could apply rose water with a cotton pad to reduce unwanted redness (as long as your skin isn’t sensitive to fragrances). Lips and Teeth: Start a lip scrub in the weeks leading to the wedding, like the Smack That Scrub, Strawberry Cream Tinted Lip Scrub for extra soft honeymoon-ready puckers. A professional teeth cleaning at the dentist along with whitening should you choose, or go for over the counter whitening strips and try oil pulling with pure coconut oil. And now you’re officially ready to take on your big day, looking like an absolute queen!
