Mesotherapy 101

With the amount of treatments that are now available in the beauty industry, one can more often than not find it difficult to differentiate between what actually works and what doesn’t. One of the most frequently talked about treatments has been Mesotherapy. Since we like to stay up to date about anything and everything beauty and skincare here, at Source Beauty, and because we like to share everything with you, have a quick read to understand more about Mesotherapy and its benefits.

What even is Mesotherapy, you ask?

Mesotherapy is a technique that uses injections of a combination of vitamins, enzymes, hormones and plant extracts to rejuvenate the skin, promoting the production of collagen and elastin, two key ingredients when it comes to the elasticity of the skin. It addresses various skin issues like hyper-pigmentation and dark spots, loss of glow, dull skin, loss of tone and elasticity and superficial lines and wrinkles. This procedure helps tighten the skin and promises to give it that “glow from within” look that we’re all constantly aiming to achieve through endless facials, serums and masks.

What’s the process like? Recovery time?

Mesotherapy is known to be a minimally invasive procedure, as these skin-loving injections are done in the mesodermal layer of the skin (the middle layer). It’s a 30-min process and is supposedly not a painful one. Let’s be real though- you might feel slight discomfort, given that there are needles involved (it’s a micro-needle, but still), so an anesthetic cream might be used if you have sensitive skin. You may experience some swelling or slight bruising post procedure but this generally doesn’t last for more than 24 hours after which your face will settle.

It’s usually a 6-8 session treatment, with a duration of 2 weeks between every session. There may be follow up treatments once or twice a year, just to make sure that the glow never fades.

Benefits?

The idea of mesotherapy is that by injecting these nutrients into the middle layer of your skin, it works at improving your skin’s metabolism. This causes the replenishment process to happen more effectively, giving your face a healthier look and ridding your skin of anti-aging toxins. It is also done to treat acne scarring, clearing out your skin and making the texture visibly smoother. What’s good about this procedure is that you get a customized blend of vitamins in the injections, depending on the needs of your skin, ensuring that whatever issues you might be facing will be targeted specifically. This means that you will be able to see visible results after just one session! Your skin is said to look a lot more radiant, hydrated and nourished. Sounds tempting, doesn’t it? So, will you try it out? We are definitely considering.
