Exercise
Yes, we said it. In the days leading up to your period, high energy workouts can improve your mental and emotional health. Running, swimming, or any high-level cardio workout releases endorphins into your system. So if you’re feeling sad, moody, or all over the place, a good cardio workout can help centre and balance your emotions.

During the week of your period, your hormone levels drop, meaning your energy will too. Give yourself permission to take it easy. However, low-impact workouts such as yoga, pilates or even walking can ease period pains.

Eat Well
Foods such as caffeine and sugar can actually exacerbate your period symptoms. We know that you’re probably craving that giant chocolate bar that you have hidden at the back of your drawer. We’re here to tell you that that’s probably not the best way to handle this time of the month. Instead, fill your plate with lots of leafy greens and fruits; both contain a ton of magnesium which is a natural muscle relaxer.

Sleep
Calling it a night is the best gift you can give yourself. Skip that Netflix marathon and get to bed as early as possible. When your body is tired it doesn’t function as it should. So show your body some love by giving it the rest it needs (8-9 hours of sleep is the recommended amount).
